Brief about the Book

This book is a vigorous celebration of the real Goa – of its exotic natural beauty and the exuberant spirit of its people. These pictures freeze moment in the life span of Goa, moment s that go largely unnoticed by the vast majority of Goans as they go about the normal business of living. Frozen for posterity, perhaps these images will show the children of Goan families at home and a broad what they have missed and are missing and might inspire them to return to the land that welcomes them with its natural beauty and breathtaking charms.

About the author

After working in the construction industry for eighteen years, Pantaleao Fernandes finally found his true calling: photography and writing. After photographing for a book on church facades, there was no turning back. Next in 2007, came the book, “100 Goan Experiences”, which sough to take the Goans out of their warm hearths and into deep nooks and crevices of the Goan hinterlands which have sold more than thirteen thousand copies.

Pantaleao then began documenting the zatras, feasts and traditions that went along with them. In course of time he had a collection of photographs which he thought had to be published in large format to do justice to them. Thus came about the book, “Goa Remembered”. Pantaleao is now full time engaged in digging out hidden facets of Goan culture.
