It is not the exact truth why agriculture is a dying industry in Goa that it is because of the lack of manpower. People have stopped cultivating lands because it is not feasible due to high cost of Labour in Goa now. The migrant if welcomed by Marlon they are still excessively available in Goa but Goans still find the labour is very expensive. Since they (migrants) are already available in very excessive numbers whether Arwin, Soter or Rajan like it or not but the agriculture labour still very expensive and to much laborious. This is the real reason and Marlon got it wrong why the lands are not cultivated.
As a matter of Fact, as far as I understand, None are against the migrants but the argument is since Goa is one of a smallest state and the migrants have just descended in too many numbers and are still coming and coming, how much can a small Goa accommodate these ever increasing in numbers migrants?. the argument is furthered saying too many people at every corner of tiny Goa which Goa can't really accommodate and due to this factor one find garbage strewn all over, the kind of migrants that have descended in Goa have painted Goa red too with their spitting habits, one cant find a single street, a single building without this free of cost paint. Besides this the scene and aroma of shit after dusk and even during day time one can observe at many of the streets of Goa. Why cant Marlon see an over all problem that this is due to this excessive migrants that are still descending in Goa mostly from cheap Konkan Railway. Put your hand in your heart and search your conscience and you will get the truth. Go around and see Monte-Dongor, one for example, the Politicians have captured them and more invitations are sent by these politicians and so more agents are mushroomed to get more and more migrants and the politicians offer them all the facilities like ration card voting cards, place to settle, and medical services too are provided to them at free of cost, all and every free schemes are arranged for them, their stay for permanent stay is well eased for them. One such happening I have observed very recently at my Navelim village attached to Margao, backyard of Colmorod by the road that goes to Konkan Railway station from behind of Navelim Church. There were few shelter huts by the side of this road, some people including me use to go for walks by that road, it was little difficult then to walk by that road as it looked congested by heavy load Lorries and children shitting by road side. But now since last 15 days suddenly that No-men's land is filled with tens of hundreds huts and the street is completely littered with so much ugliness of garbage and with the aroma of shit all around. This scenery is just 100 meters away from Govt. District Library named after Francisco Luis Gomes, what a tribute to Francisco Luis Gomes!!! These migrant that are coming are not just the people who seeking work in Goa but they carry along their complete family of number of children and elders too, Besides the poultry and goats and what not. Mind you this area falls under Margao Municipality, This fresh numbers of vote bank looks like well planed as no one have objected to this new development so far, If all goes well to them you can guess who will benefit from these new voters if not Digambar who already said, he is not depending on Goan Votes, it will be Chorchill whose mouth is already locked that was roaring prior to his PWD portfolio in support of local poor agricultural land owners against the migrants illegal shops owners at Ravonfondd whom Digambar wanted to rehabilitate by snatching land of the local poor people. With the offer of PWD portfolio, Digmbar's dreams came true but not only by shutting his mouth for objecting this rehabilitation with free of cost land to his beloved vote bank migrants, Digambar also won the battle of Churchill against the Mopa and in Dabolim Airports, He even saved his about to fall Government should he not offered the PWD to Chorchill. and talking about the Free medical facilities, I have observed and many including the medicine fraternity that most of the patients that are visiting are the migrants who sweep the free medicines from the Hospicio Pharmacies. One Doctor who swears that Goa is the only State which gives its citizens the free medical facilities and the one who are taking advantage of such facilities are mostly people from other states. He had particularly mentioned that the expensive injections that cost thousands of Rupees for a single shot are availed mostly by citizens of other states, they come by Air in the morning take the advantage of these expensive injections and return by flight in the evening because the cost of return flight is much cheaper than the cost of single injection and Goa Govt is giving it free and such facilities are not available in their state for that matter in no other states as told by this Doctor. It is the non-Goans who are making best use of these benevolences of Goa and Goans. The Doctor also say, why not many Goans take advantage of these free medicines it is because the Goans feel it is below their prestige to go to Govt Hospitals and availed Govt's free medicines. So why not migrants and non-goans find that Goa is a heaven for them! This is just another reason though there are many more reasons why more and more migrants rush day by day to Goa. and their number still ever swelling. It is not only Arwin, Soter or Rajan who are enlightening the fear of loosing Goa, there are many and many more Goans who just watch it as they are helpless when the Politicians are facilitating them all with best of the goodies illegally though. They are the real benefactors of all schemes which are meant for poor and helpless Goans with the blessing of the powerful Politicians. We Goans are just busy to chase the illegal things that are going on, who has time for this in this busy world?. We will wake up when everything is lost one day like greedy Palestians who sold their lands to very rich Israelis for a very rich booty. Now the sons of Palestinians are fighting a lost battle for years. MIGRANTS word can be too dangerous if not handled with caution and with utmost care. Politicians who are temporary will sell and offer everything to non-goans that is of Goa and Goans and they will make big money for them and for their families and perhaps for their future generation and they will be gone while we will wake too late and curse them yet we will not recover anything once lost. With the land lying fallow, it makes a lot of sense for the landowners to sell their properties to the construction industry.
