To Goanet - Some posts ago, "independent journalist" Frederick Noronha had mused whether the recent arrest of Shahid Balwa of Dynamix is good news for Goa. Dynamix is currently building a MONSTROUS hotel complex that covers the entire stretch of Bambolim beach. I urge every Goa who is able to take time out to drive by and see it for homself - the scale of the footprint, the illegalities, and the corruption that is at its foundations.
In an earlier post, I had referred to the rally at this very site in Dec 2006. We now know the reality of the GBA phonies. Funny then that Oscar Rebelo should be nominated for awards for saving Goa. Even funnier is that he accepts these bogus awards (mostly instituted by miners and other damaged goods). What a freakin' joke (both the awards and Rebelo) ! Here's some of that rally - http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2011-January/204988.html Later in Nov 2007, the GBA barged into the TCP office but realized that honcho had fled the building and sought refuge in Digu's lap. So the posse moved to Digu's home in Altinho where Shridhar Kamat (now enjoying a fat salary paid for by you, the Goan taxpayer) was already prepped by Digu to mollify the GBA contingent. Long story short: the file of the project had gone "missing." Digu told footsie dancer and his troupe that he would "study" the issue. Current status is that Digu is still "studying" while the project is now nearly complete. Balwa is, I understand, a protege of the Sharad Pawar crime syndicate. Madam is probably flexing her muscles via CBI to send a message of Pawar. Now - when I was shining the spotlight on Aldeia de Goa and other concrete atrocities of the day, "independent journalist" Frederick Noronha was casting aspersions on my motives. While I was expending my own dime and time, Mr Noronha was whispering smears about my "green garb" which in his mind was calculated to bring BJP back to power. Therefore, in his fictional universe I had to have some secret source of funding as well. It is therefore perplexing that the "independent journalist" senses "good news" for Goa now, just when 99% of Goa is done in. Likewise, let's wait and see if Datta Naik the builder calls for a total ban on construction once 100% of Goan land is paved over. I hear Salgaonkar and Timblo are considering calling for a total ban on mining 40 years from now, enough time for them to find an island to buy and retire in in Polynesia. Let us not forget that Digu is very good at encouraging "independence" of journalists by giving them grants. How nicely he has kept them totally independent from investigating and reporting inconvenient facts. Manohar should take a lesson or two at the feet of the master. Regards, r ps: It is amusing to see Indians talk about "CBI," in semi-hushed tones usually. In practice, that organization has neither the autonomy nor the power to do anything without madam's nod. What a hoot.
