Just to reduce the load of email messages, here is a summary of some recent posts sent to the Goa Book Club list. Also, a request: please give priority to Goa book-focussed discussion. For general discussions, there are other mailing lists which can also be explored:

ALDA FIGUEIREDO, author of a UK-published book on Goan cooking: I would have liked to do a lightning review of the cookery book, but unfortunately I am out of Goa on that day. [email protected] Dr TERESA ALBUQUERQUE, historian (and sister of the prominent late editor Frank Moraes), who has recently finished work on her mss. on a book on Goans in Bombay. [email protected] ANNE KETTERINGHAM [retired aeronautical engineer, traveller in Goa, and an excellent photographer of bird-life here, on maps and Mandovi/Madei/Mahadei]: Yes it is! From the article and map it [the Madei/Mahadei] runs in Karnataka as the source for 50 Kms or so, then down into the Mandovi Valley then on to the Mahaday River, progressing seaward to the now Mandovi river. All very interesting. [email protected] ANNE: http://www.goacom.com/goanow/2002/sep/CoverStory.html Thank you Avelino for this interesting link to this article. I was aware that there are issues between Karnataka and Goa due to them planning 11 dams. That would be disastrous for Goa I believe as it would destroy many of the tributaries as well as the flow of the main rivers in Goa. We look forward to more book-related postings. Any Goa-linked book topic is onlist and most welcome! FN (_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_}{_) FN :: +91-9822122436 :: +91-832-2409490 Some of my images online http://bit.ly/hRHia6
