<<I would like to correct the mistakes and false statements made in the post appended below. Goanet does not allow attachments. I do not want to upload the scanned paper in the public domain and provide a link to it for copyright reasons. I have emailed the paper to Ferdinando. My email has not bounced. If he does not want to receive private emails and attachments, it is his problem. I would be happy to send to it any other Goanetter privately. **I would like to read the "original" Report of Dr.Odoardo Linoli. It is not available over the Website. I asked Lanciano Franciscan community (from San Francesco Church, built over St.Legontian Church of the Basilian monks, later on of the Benedictine monks) to send it to me. I would like to read it myself in Italian. What I have sent to Santosh "privately" (since Goanet would not publish it in Italian) is the excerpt from the "original" Report. It is clear that the conclusions given by Dr.Odoardo Linoli are positive in favour of the "extraordinary" event of Lanciano. These conclusioons were confirmed by other scientists after years of research. Conclusions given by Santosh are biased and wrong. It has been published on several reviews.

<<To correct the other falsehoods below, let me restate briefly what I have said about this paper.

1. This paper is not a "confirmation" by "modern science" of any miracle. The claim of confirmation would be laughable to any professional scientist, or a court of law, for that matter, based on what is written in the paper. **Wrong. The medical paper is not given as a "confirmation" of a miracle. Miracle is the theological inference, by following different criteria, of what has happened in an "extraordinary" way in that event. Scientific data were published by Prof.Dr.O.Linoli. They were confirmed by Prof. Ruggero Bertelli of the University of Siena. The Report was published in Quaderni Sclavo di Diagnostica Clinica e di Laboratori in 1973. That event is not reproducible ("re"-producible) scientifically. Only God can produce it, as it has happened also in some other places, like Bolsena and Santarém..

<<2. The results described do not come even close to confirming unequivocally the claims that the material is human heart and blood, that it is fresh, that it is from a living person, that it is from the 8th or the 1st century, that it is from any historical or religious figure, and that it originated from inanimate matter. **Therefore, if you exclude whatever Dr.O.Linoli has proved, what is remaining for you to conclude? A fraud with bird's heart, with monkey's heart, with cow's heart? Is it not yet fresh? Is the flesh rotten? Then how can it be kept for centuries there for worship of the Body and Blood of the Risen Jesus Christ? Is it a fraud by the Basilian monks (Church of St.Legontian, now it is San Francesco Church of Franciscan monks)? Then all generations should be punished for such a fraud. It would be idolatry on the part of all those who worship the glorified Jesus in that flesh and blood, believing the very words of Jesus (cf.Jn 6:35.51c). All those who have heard about Lanciano Eucharistic Miracle do believe it, worship Jesus and are transformed by it. Are we idolaters? Is it "pure faith" or faith confirmed by scientific investigations? When any "supernatural" event is alleged or claimed, why is it that scientists are called to verify it? The Catholic Church will never ever pronounce whether it is a miracle or not, unless sufficient evidence is given by Science?

<<3. The AB blood group claimed rules out the possibility that the body from which this material supposedly came, possessed only one set of 23 chromosomes derived solely from the mother. **This is totally wrong. All factors converge to that conclusion and show that their conclusion is correct. It is AB group. It has 23 chromosomes, what could happen only in the case of Jesus, who was conceived virginally by his Mother, Virgin Mary. It is a scientific confirmation. We should remark that in 1978, a group of scientists from NASA performed an intensive examination on the Shroud of Turin, by using all the sophisticated scientific equipment available to our Space Agency at that time. Among the many findings, the scientists made in support of the authenticity of the Shroud, a very significant discovery was found regarding the blood type on the Shroud. It was AB positive, the same blood type as found in the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. More and more, Science has verified what we have believed in Christian Faith for centuries.

COMMENT : I precisely
wanted Santosh to publish this Linoli’s paper as I
didn’t want the discussion
on this forum without others in the Forum knowing its very
contents. It gives
ample scope to false arguments...
The original report was
published on 7th Sept. 1971 on Medline here:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4950729
Now it is for the Forum to decipher; why was it published in the first place if it
was false as claimed by Santosh? Who removed the medical study reports, and why, and with what intentions? Published reports are never removed. If erroneous, a review is
published with error corrected.
