We have often raised howls of protests about the Brits (and some others) calling us Goanese. My belief is that this is just out of ignorance, and not meant as an insult (much like Kanarese, in the days of yore).
But, as one repeatedly encounters, the Goa media often describes the British/English or other generic nationals of her majesty's kingdom (even if not very united) as "Britishers". The Free Dictionary (below) says this is a term "not used by the British"). Britisher [ˈbrɪtɪʃə] n (not used by the British) 1. a native or inhabitant of Great Britain 2. any British subject http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Britisher So, would you feel the usage is deliberate, or just out of ignorance too?
