IF JPC WAS CONSTITUTED EARLY CBI ACTION WOULD HAVE HALTED

Mr Shantaram Naik M.P said that if JPC was constituted as demanded by opposition two months back, there would not have been any arrests or interrogations in any of the scams as, CBI would have then preferred to wait till JPC report.

Mr Naik who was participating in the debate in the Rajya sabha, on a Motion of Thanks to the President of India, further said that it is because of Right to Information Act given by the Congress Party to the nation that the citizens have been able to pinpoint to the mistakes of the government, and said that, after the ‘Whisleblower’ bill, which is presently before Standing Committee, is passed by Parliament, the functioning of the government will become more transparent.

Mr Naik said Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was enacted during Rajiv Gandhi’s time which is helping the government in effectively dealing with corruption cases.

Refering to judiciary, Mr Naik said remarks made by judges during the hearings of cases are uncalled for, and that, judges should speak through their judgements, which have to be obeyed.

Mr Naik further said that recent remarks made by one of the judges of the Supreme Court against Prime Minister of India was not called for.

Mr Naik said that today, judiciary decides as to where speed brakers should be put, and what childrens should eat in their mid day meals.

Mr Naik demanded that Goa should get a full-fledged High Court as per the provisions of the Constitution, and that, State also should also get a separate cadre of All India Services.

Refering to the speech of Shri Arun Jetley, Leader of Opposition who praised the Government of Gujrath for bringing in maxim investment in the State, Mr Naik said if inspite of knife ruling investments come in Gujrat, it is because that the investors are aware that those who use the knife are themselves inviting for investments, then they have no one to fear.

Mr Naik said agreements in Gujrath regarding investments are a window dressing exercise, and that, within five years, fate of these agreements will be known.
