To be fair to the Municipality, they are not demolishing crosses alone.

When roads are being widened, do you really expect them to build the road
around the cross? Not possible in a land starved city like Bombay.

The East Indian Christians are protesting. Did they protest when they pocketed
huge sums of money while selling their lands to builders while Bandra was being
modernized?

The crosses were once a part of 'gaothan' (East Indian village) life. Today
they are an anachronism. Bandra is no longer a Gaothan. It is an ultra-rich
suburb where a one-bedroom flat in the right vicinity goes for a couple of
crore of rupees or more.

Is there any reason why the faithful cannot pray in churches and why a cross on
the road is any different from the cross in church.

The Christians in India need to focus on more meaningful issues with regard to
their place in the community. Starting with the corrupt priests who sell Church
land for their own benefit.

Roland.
