-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM FEB 28: The Aldona MLA, Dayanand Narvekar has called upon the people from Bicholim and Sattari to be alert and not to allow the government hospitals from the taluka fall prey to PPP project.
Narvekar was addressing a public meeting held at Amona Bicholim to oppose mining and PPP. "Be alert and oppose any move by the health minister and the government to privatize the hospitals from Bicholim, Sanquelim and Valpoi" Narvekar told. Speaking further Narvekar told that these projects are coming up only because he is not in the ministry. "There are plans to privatise the famous Mayem lake and if this happens than the entry fees would sour high" Narvekar said "the lake belongs to the Goans and the government has no right to privatise it for their own purpose." He also came down heavily over the government and told that they have no moral right to be in power. "In Margao 200 crore is spent on development but why not even 40 crore spent in Pale constituency even if the MLA is that of the Congress" he asked. Speaking on mining Narvekar asked the government to increase the transportation cess and divert that income for the development of the common people. He called the government's move to fine the trucks as just a drama and told that only common people suffered due to this. "If the government is really concerned about the environment and the mining than they should fine the mine owners" he told asking"why there is no complaint registered against the mining company for illegal transportation of ore worth crores of rupees?" NCP Vice president, Prakash Phadte in his speech told that there is at least one case against every congress minister and the governement is against the people. "They claim that the government is of the 'aam aadmi' but no government benefit goes to the people and this is the reason we see agitations everywhere" Phadte told. Velgaum ex-sarpanch, Dinesh Sahastrabuddhe; Ex-MLA, Adv Vishnu Rama Naik, Amona Sarpanch, Shankar Naik and Khemlo Sawant also spoke on the occasion.
