A response to Rajan's post: Comment: The main theme in Rajan's post is the oft ignored refrain of what unfortunately has befallen our homeland.
It possibly will bring minimal satisfaction to many of us (me included) if individuals like Manohar Parrikar would at least spout the right words and not play convenient word-games. Why a disciplined and educated man like Manohar Parrikar would share the same political-bed with the riff-raff (except for the Kodel's sake), I have NO idea. With that as introduction, I 'stand' and unequivocally support Rajan Parrikar's post (appended infra). Having said that, I'd like to remind myself (once again) that a politician has never been (or can ever be) taken to court to enforce the fulfillment of (on contractual terms) the promises he/she makes while in 'campaign or opposition' mode. So .... whatever the politician says is, in fact..... Jai Ho to the Fluff! On this "whatever" anniversary of the liberation of our senses, I'd like to record my Thanks to the following (list is incomplete): 1: All the real and imagined Goa freedom-fighters (even ones who were paid propagandists and those who are still milking the cash-cow) for producing this baby (Goa) by forced c-section (without consent) .....and then abandoning the newborn in the care of the Alibaba Foundassun. 2: All the real, imagined, alleged et al Journos who worked for the vested interests (prostitution is not the most appropriate word) to tell Goans that they were being relieved of their identity because it was not their right identity, and the mother who spoke their mother tongue was not really their mother etc. etc......Some Devnagri Konkani-only protagonists have NOT a clue of Devnagri! 3: The nuevo members of the Alibaba Foundassun who are finding new means to 'develop' Goa into a WCCW i.e. World Class Centre for Whoring. (Mind you, other places (smaller than Goa) have well controlled and regulated casinos).......but then, Goa runs of Foundassun rules. 4: All the Lambhots, See_plenty_Naris, Karm_Alibabas, Bhim-Bros et all for their silence on the degradation taking place. Kitem re Lambhott ......post-Colva sand boxes, there ain't no Sorrowing No more? 5: The nuevo 'identity-protectors' who, clueless as they may be ....I credit for having offered their funds for the purchase of band-aids. Bravo, I say to them. 6: Trust me, I say to the nuevo 'identity-protectors': The deals are cast in stone. If you want to feel that you at least tried ....in 2011, Fair enough. But you will soon realise that your time and your funds will end up in the casino. And do we not know the odds? Yep, the Casino always wins. Sure .....you can criticise me! jc Rajan P. Parrikar <[email protected]> wrote: To Goanet - I read about Manohar Parrikar declaring that he wants to shut down "illegal" casinos. Not enough, I say. THROW OUT ALL CASINOS FROM GOA. We know how "legal" and "illegal" are fungible entities in Goa (and in India). These are meaningless terms. The Supreme Court gave a judgement on Cidade de Goa and Digu, batting for Timblo, turned that judgement on its head. So illegal became legal within 24 hours. The important thing is to do what is right. The casinos in Mandovi river are a disgrace and an insult to every Goan. They are effectively floating brothels and gambling dens. Every Thursday and Friday, scores of politicians and other odious characters from Mumbai, Delhi, & all over India descend on Panjim. There are all kind of 'packages' on offer (do I have to spell out what that means?). They gamble away cash worth CRORES every weekend (no exaggeration, mind you). You can figure out why 'independent journos' and migrant editors in Goa don't want to touch this story. If you have noticed a sudden increase in the number of faces of girls from the northeast hanging around in Panjim the past few months, that is not a coincidence. No longer is Goa a brothel in the metaphorical sense. IT IS A LITERAL BROTHEL. It is also common knowledge that one minister (I believe it is more than one, but my informant can confirm at least one) has a direct stake in one of the casinos. His average take in a month runs into crores. Most of the owners are outsiders, fellows who have suitably bribed local politicos and panchayats to feather their little pads in Goa. Many of the employees at the floating casinos are outsiders. Furthermore, has anyone investigated the sewage and other rubbish that is being dumped in the river? So I say to Manohar - if you mean it, then shut down ALL casinos. Otherwise you are just blowing smoke. I say to the Goans - how can you be so goddam supine that any bhailo can run over you at will? If the GRA has any teeth, the first order of business - throw the casinos out of Goa. Regards,
