Radio Mirchi 98.3FM and American Centre, Mumbai presents 'TVS Apache Mirchi Sound Check' - Mar 18, 19, 26 2011 at Mermaid Garden, Panaji

Goa’s Number 1 Radio Station, Radio Mirchi 98.3FM and the American Centre Mumbai present a mega musical platform with the launch of "TVS Apache Mirchi Sound Check," a band and orchestra music competition for the youth, by the youth, to the youth, on March 18, 19, 26.

Music makes the world go around. And who better than Radio Mirchi to represent it. Goa’s No 1 radio station Radio Mirchi 98.3FM in its consistent effort to promote local talent in Goa by creating multi-creative platforms, will organize ``TVS Apache Mirchi Sound Check’’ a band and orchestra competition for the youth, by the youth and to the youth, in partnership with the American Centre Mumbai; co-presented by TVS Motor Company, this month on March 18, 19 and 26.

Presenting the event in a fun packaged, high voltage format with on-air and on-ground promotion all across Goa, the ``TVS Apache Mirchi Sound Check’’ aims to encourage and promote talent in the multi-language musical genre by inviting the participation of Goan amateur bands and orchestras to compete for the ultimate Mirchi Sound Check Champion Title. Held over three days in a series of on-ground competitions at the Mermaid Garden, Panjim from March 18 to 19 from 5pm to 10pm, concluding the finale competition on March 26 from 5pm-10pm, the best among the rest will win handsome cash prizes and trophies for Mirchi Sound Check Best Band (in English), Best Orchestra (in multi-language), Best Vocalist (in any language) and Best Original Song (in any language). The competition criteria will compulsorily include one original song in a repertoire of 4 songs per band/orchestra with 30 minutes performance time. This criterion is Radio Mirchi's effort to encourage more budding musicians to compose and write their own music, and thus showcase their true talent. Adding a highlight to the event will be the winner of Mirchi Sound Check Best Band who will be showcased at the American Centre, Mumbai and Radio Mirchi’s forthcoming "Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert," while the Best Orchestra will be showcased at Radio Mirchi's prestigious "Mirchi Purani Jeans Festival" shortly.

Says Ethel Da Costa, Station Director & Programming Head, Radio Mirchi 98.3FM Goa, “This is a Mirchi opportunity to create a talent hunt for the young in Goa and be the platform to represent their dreams. The first of many new ideas to come.”

Bringing together Goa's noted musician Mukesh Ghatwal to represent the "face" of the event for his unique contribution to music in Goa, participants in the band and orchestra category are requested to rush for registration forms available at the Radio Mirchi office, Panjim, and at Kala TVS branch, St Inez. Last date for submission is March 17th. The first competition round will be held on March 18th.
