Bhakti leads Goans in Top Indians' List

Champion Bhakti Kulkarni broke many jinxes for Goa players on way to her
all time high International rating of 2339 published by World Chess
Federation today. Bhakti (7th), Ivana maria Furtado (44th) and Mrs.
Prasanna Swamy (97th) feature in the top 100 Women players of India.
Bhakti became first Goan to reach 2300+ rating. The World Chess
Federation (FIDE) has certified that she is No.7 among the Indian Women
list starting from World No.2 Grandmaster Koneru Humpy. Bhakti's rating
was 2275 in the January rating list published by FIDE. A fruitful
European tour of four International Tournaments in Czech Republic and
Hungary saw Bhakti's rating skyrocketing by 64 points.
FIDE has also published top 100 players from every country. Bhakti is
India No.7 among women while other two Goans in the top 100 are Ivana
Furtado at No.44 and veteran Chess trainer from Bambolim -Mrs.Prasanna
Swamy at 97th place.
FIDE also publishes mix list of Men and Women. Bhakti became the first
Goan player to stand in the top 100 (Open) list. She is 80th in the list
headed by World champion Viswanathan Anand.
