Thank you to readers who wrote and commented on the post. I apologise for the many typos.
To Patrice: You are right on. It should have struck me that Bombay to Poona was broad gauge and therefore electric. The steam locos as you said took over from Poona onwards. To JC: You are probably more accurate than I was with regard to the last train phase of the destination. My memory did not serve me well with regard to the journey from Londa/Castle Rock to Majali. To Mervyn on another post: Yes the 'tit' bits was indeed funny and thanks for noticing it. In my defence I can say that the post was titled by the author Armand Rodrigues who by the wasy is a Toronto resident who has written many other interesting articles which I shall post here from time to time. I have his permission. I was less than 10 years old when I made the Bombay to Goa train trips. That my memory was sharp enough to remember such minor details is sometimes a matter of concern to me. Is it a gift or is is Alzheimers I ask myself. Alzheimers after all is known for its long term vivid memory. As long as readers enjoy the recounting, I shall not worry. To Selma: You and Domnic have spoiled book-writing for me. Both of you have set the bar so high, that I shall never meet the standards - Domnic for memory and you for painstaking research, fluency of language and power of thought.
