GRA meeting 15.3.2011
Goemchea Rakhondkarancho Awaz Azad Maidan, Panjim I understand the meet started with some entertainment at around 3.20pm songs/music Sonia Shirsat, Varun Carvalho, Seby Fernandes etc We were late and arrived just before 4pm so we were able to watch Seby singing ‘Kitlem sobit Goa amchem’ and ‘Mira Mira’ both written/Music by Late Chris Perry and originaly sung by Seby himself (see video starting). This was followed by a mock funeral procession with large black coffin and with live funeral brass band (see pic and Video). The coffin is meant for all 40 MLAs. At around 4.30 pm there started speeches after speeches (about 2 doz speakers) Viz. Sweta Kerkar, Croydon Madeira, Prakash Bandodkar, Ramesh Gawas, Francis Rodrigues, Iftihaz Sahid, Sandeep Kambli, Audhoot Prabhudesai, Fr. Bisrmark, Geraldine Fernandes, Zarina, Govhind Gaude, Rajendra Kakodkar, Anthony D’Silva, Sunil, Anton Lobo, Angela D’Costa, Fr.Domnic Sequiera, young Nilesh, Adv. Yatin Naik, Fr. Eremito Rebello etc (see all except 2 in video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsdetsPBt_A In between there was another song by Domnic Soares (see video) and Poetry recital by Angela D’Costa. Some resolutions passed inlcuding special status for Goa, bogus voting cards etc The meet got ended around 7.15pm but the slide show was to start then after. The attendance: Not very much impressed. (See pics/video from all angles) It seems people are divided or confused or simply careless. Goa’s population is about 13,00,000 + but those attended were not even formed 0.5% of it. Extra: - Full water bottles served – see video - 30 minutes after the meet ended, we counted 20 buses lined up from ferry to Market - DB Road, another 10-20 may have already left. - There was a mention of ‘Internet badmouthing’ but no one thanked those NRIs who have contributed by sending monetary help (perhaps, NRI money still in transit or money may have never sent ). They did thank many others though. - Mention of ‘dukor’ and ‘Barao’. E.g. 40 barao and the one who call us ‘pigs’ is the biggest barao – see video - Shouting from the audience ‘20% commissions by PWD’ see video - CM gets 1 crore daily from mining loby - Read more than one newspapers as Timblos and Dempos etc bring out different versions - When Fr. Eremito said in his brief speech ' ..ami songlim ubim ravumya..' and all stood up, seeing them standing Fr. said 'I didn't mean that..' what he actualy meant was 'we should all stand up unitedly..' We had a great laugh and still laughing at the time of writing this report. There is also a meeting at Margao April 18 (?) Here are some pics Fr.
