That Panaji’s new Mayor and Deputy Mayor were selected at a meeting in Taleigao outside the jurisdiction of Corporation of City of Panaji is a very bad start by the new team. It is very important that the CCP get its independence and stops being remote controlled by MLA’s. The Mayor and the 29 Corporators should have full authority and be in control of the day to day administration at the CCP. They could of course seek advice and guidance of MLA’s, former MLA’s and former Corporators amongst others but the Corporators need to be in command. The Corporators should take the public into confidence in all they do rather than dancing to the tunes of MLA’s.
