Massive Rally at Azad Maidan today (PTA) Had a date with a middle aged Dy.Collector, was expecting back to Panjim by 4.15. But our case/file took up last and the Dy. Collector says ‘his mind is not at one place’ So he adjourned it to next time.
We arrived Panjim at 4.40 but again got held up on new patto bridge due to the traffic jam. We decided to walk up to Azad Maidan only to find everything is over by 4.48pm. We only saw there Tomazinho Cardozo on the dais talking to some media persons. Even the stage or the dais was cleared by 5.05pm as the same was required for ongoing Panjim Shigmo celebrations, a massive stage of which already there and this rally stage was erected just infront of it. Rally was massive, at least 3 people I asked said it was around 50,000 but I doubt it as there is no room for that many people. At the most, I think, Azad Maidan can take up to 15,000-18,000. Chinchinin had 3+ buses (So it says on the windscreen of the bus -Buss No. 3) Mandrem 2 ,Assolna 5, Asnora 2, Sanqllim 3, Siolim 2, Aldona 2 Raia 5 (one said 7), Porvorim 4, Verna 2, Cansaulim 4’ Mapusa St. Brittos 4+, St. Estevam 2+, Arpora 3+ (all free transport, don’t know who arranged it or who pays for it).
