Folks, Here in N. America, the education system is not geared to providing a student with a certain set of skills. The education system is geared instead to provide a student with the ability to continuously develop his/her own skills. Those who graduate from this system have a distinct advantage over the competition. Educators here are preparing students for the possibility of three careers in their life time. Not three different types of jobs but three totally different CAREERS, as technology continues to makes jobs and even occupations obsolete every few years. I totally agree with Dr. PratapNaik, S.J. A child's future will depend on his/her ability to adapt. The child has to be nurtured so that s/he is aware of several wells of knowledge to draw from. A single language, an exposure to just one culture, a narrow curriculum will keep any child/student at a distinct disadvantage. The decision to be made is, should a child receive an education that gives him/her wings to fly or should education provide the child with weights that will keep the child close to home. Mervyn1420Lobo I guess every parent has the right to decide whether to give his child an educaa"wings"
