@ Soter Many of the Parish Priests are rabidly insistent that Konkani and Konkani alone be used for all services to the point of refusing to perform services in English.
I had this experience when a nephew wanted to have an English service for his nuptials. The PP refused even though it was explained that both the bride and the groom were from English speaking homes and that they and their guests were all more comfortable with an English service which would be meaningful as well as understandable. It took all kinds of pressure to get him to agree. He retaliated by getting us to arrange our own priest knowing full well that it would be difficult. Most notorious among these are Fr. Zeferino the present Diocesan Board (DBE) Secretary and Fr. Roland, PP of Parra and of course, there must be scores more. So it does not surprise me that Fr. Jaime Couto and his companion Fr. Mousinho Ataide are shouting Devnagri Konkani and Devnagri Konkani alone from the roof tops and adding ammunition to the Anti Engleesh Camp.
