I think the decision to teach French in Goa was a thoughless extension from the Pune Board policy of neighbouring Maharashtra. I might be wrong, but wasn't French was a subject offered in the days before the Goa Board was set up, and was one of those thingys implemented here too because our big neighbour does it that way :-) FN
