COMMENT: In the first place Portugal and its colonies were ruled by the
dictator Salazar from the year 1933 when he founded the 'Estado Nova' which
gave him absolute powers, till the year1968 when he suffered a stroke and was
replace by Marcelo Caetano. So it is definitely not much of the 20th century.
35 years for Portugal and 28 for Goa. The justification for Goa to have
remained under Portuguese colonial rule is so real and glaring and not just
perception. Goans by and large are not adequately literate nor knowledgeable; in
fact liberated towards uncivilisation. That is why Goans keep electing the same
representatives with criminal records, support politicians when they commit
criminal acts and want the politicians to intervene when they themselves commit
criminal acts. Can anyone deny this fact? It is precisely why Goa is still a
colony and subjugated to Delhi with politicians running to Delhi for permission
to even release wind.
