<<<...If some one had to see the text books in konkani medium you would not
know whther you are reading urdu, kannad or konkani. I am a konkani writer but
I was finding it difficult to read and understand the language for I am sure
the person who has written the text book has used some marathi words...
**I do agree with you that books for Konkani language should be prepared by
people who know well Goan Konkani and the Goan culture. I do not agree with
those who are dumping "marathized" Konkani and importing teachers from
Maharashtra to Goan schools. Children will only start hating their own
mother-tongue, sweet Konkani, and prefer to learn only English. Let the
Government work in the right direction, instead of denying children the right
to learn well their mother-tongue and also mastering other languages. Konkani
should be taught in devnagri and roman scripts; it should be literary Konkani,
not antruzi, much less marathized... English is essential for our education. We
are surrounded by books in English. Let them also study French, Portuguese,
Sanskrit.
Regards.
