Hi Floriano, Excellent comment/defense!. I guess some of the netters write for the sake of. Not only Dabolim Airport is occupied by the Navy, there is more land of Goa occupied by them at different areas in Goa, besides the Islands which never was under the Portuguese Government, not only this the Indian Military have occupied much more Goan lands that it looks Goa is made as a fortress for whole of India, Compare to other States of India, Goa is a tiny state and if one goes to look the Goan land which Indian Defense forces have occupied proportionate to Bigger States of India it is not justified. It looks any one come to Goa and uses it as if Goa is like a prostitute that any one come and sleep with it. Portuguese Military in Navelim, Ravonfondd was with few hundreds of square meters, but when Indian Military took it over they have expanded and extended it to over number of Square Kilometers, that they needed to occupy large part of Navelim, they have uprooted completely one of a ward called "Kottok" full of people with profession of Pot makers, besides this they have occupied two of adjacent hills for their training purposes. Can this much of land occupied in Navelim and several other places in tiny Goa justify proportionately to other bigger Indian States like Maharashtra, Karnataka etc..?
India used Goa in any way they want as if there is no one in Goa to question them, perhaps they acted like invading forces only and not as liberators of Goa. Elvino. Your are very right. Floriano is provocating Goans. Because, Floriano does not want to live a lie that 'Goa was liberated' And by so doing, he does not want GOANS also to live a lie. Supreme Court of India has ruled that Goa was annexed and not liberated by India. http://www.icrc.org/ihl-nat.nsf/46707c419d6bdfa24125673e00508145/a693a13f3cdd399ec12563b8002b1c41!OpenDocument http://nizgoenkar.blogspot.com/2011/02/goa-liberation-day-by-paulo-colaco-dias.html http://nizgoenkar.blogspot.com/2011/02/goa-liberation-day-by-paulo-colaco-dias.html India was supposed to call for a referendum if Goans wanted to remain separate or merge with India. This was not done, it having been part of the UN-Geneva accords. India relied on faltu persons like the so called Goan freedom fighters ( ex. Flavian Dias ( who in fact is a mergerist) , along with the likes of Lambert Mascarehas etc). Goa was not the constituent assembly w.r.t. the Constitution of India. Goa was included into the Constitution of India without a referendum. If referendum was called for, Goa could have opted to be merged with India with certain conditions. One of them would be 'Special Status' which Goans are now demanding. The Portuguese, after having been humiliatingly kicked out of Goa, connived with India to sign the Cooperation treaty without even asking Goans. If Goans were asked, we would have told them to sign the treaty but only after including the Special Status requirements. Come to think of it, Portugal wanted to hand-over the reins of Goa into the hands of Goans. But that was too late when India had already amassed its forces on the Goan borders. Adv. Bruto da Costa was admittedly approached to take over the reins of Goa. He refused stating that it was too late. Salazar was stupid enough not to think in these terms, earlier, and went by the non-violence preaching charlatan that was PANDIT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU, who eventually stabbed him in the back as well as the world over. Like East Timor, which dispatched mighty Indonesia to get it's independence only because the Portuguese had refused to sign the Treaty, Goa could have dispatched India to get its independence if the Portuguese had not come back like dogs with their tails between their legs to sign the 1974 Cooperation Treaty with India. No liberating forces holds on to the spoils of war ( strategic? my foot FYI the Indian navy is having a ball in Goa. Defense is the last word on its vocabulary. It cannot even secure Goan beaches from the pervading tar balls which in fact is the crude oil washing discharge from passing oil tankers). India liberated East Pakistan ( Bangladesh) Does it have its naval presence there?? If Goa was liberated, within 2 to 3 years India should have cleared from Goa and that too with the required referendum, if the referendum had to go against merger of Goa into India. The very fact that Dabolim airport is held on to by the Indian Navy tells a long story of Annexation. I don't want to celebrate 50 years of Goa's LIBERATION. I want to celebrate the same with BLACK FLAGS ALL OVER GOA to tell India to get lost from Goa OR grant it the SPECIAL STATUS that it deserves and needs badly before it becomes un-recognizable as GOA that was. Indian citizenship has been forced on me ( down my gullet) without my asking for it. Let me ask for it and then and only then I shall welcome it. In the meantime, I am a thoroughbred GOAN and shall remain a GOAN. As I have said earlier, I don't want to live a lie that Goa was liberated. It is okay for Karmalis and Flavian Diases to roll over with happiness being liberated because they are the ones who are not the freedom fighters but PENSION FIGHTERS. These guys are prostitutes who have no self-respect and who have sold Goa into the waiting hands of INDIA. And to end, I do wish that Goans like you had them, I mean the 'Goan Balls'. Unfortunately for Goa and fortunately for your own miserable existence, yours have withered away into nothingness. :-)) What a pity !!
