The noises against the movie Dum Maro Dum, according to this Holy Saturday's
'Herald', were all unwarranted and the activists silly. Some Khudale saw
nothing wrong and took his entire family to view the movie and so did the
Braganza businessman from Panjim. It is only the portrayal of a reality - the
drug mafia -police nexus - screams Goa's shit coddi newspaper. It has no
offence meant to the Goan and the women. Viewing the movie seems to be the
prescription extended to all Goans by the migrant conscience-keepers of the
State. And there is absolutely no doubt that shameless Goans will flock to view
the movie and ridicule the activists protesting outside the theatre. We Goans
are exhorted to feel proud that our 'Sin City' has become story material for
Bollywood. And for the partakers in Goa's sinful enterprise, anyone threatening
to spoil the party must be crucified. We the partakers (if not equal partakers)
in the crime find great consolation in a movie where the blame is made to rest
squarely on the politician and the police. That the very politicians and police
portrayed in bad light are our own Goan brothers and sisters should not bother
us? That these very politicians and police are a reflection of the larger Goan
society is not a matter of shame for all of us?

We witness a 'Good Friday' of Goa's conscience by migrants and locals who have
succeeded in repeatedly hijacking our opinions and have no scruples in dubbing
our young Goan activists as naxalites to win over the confidence of their
mining masters. We are aware that for those drowned in Goa's feni and dope any
rubbish is OK as the 'Susegado' Goan will take it lying down. That sums up
today's review in Goa's Herald on the 'Dum Maro Dum' movie. For Goans do not
feel ashamed to see their own stinking muck on screen and cheer at it. In fact
they will do it with great pride in the presence of a Ramani, Gupta,
Prasad,...... . All the activists are silly to waste their time in highlighting
the evils of the 'Sin City'. They forget to realise that the party is on and
everyone is having their fair share of fun on the weekends with the
politicians and police always there as thrash bins to dump the blame upon no
sooner things go wrong. That is the simple truth that we have been trying to
impart to our blind activist friends who have great thrill to undergo martyrdom
at the hands of Goa's feni, dope and women loving section in this Sin City.

This Truth is difficult to digest and so it gets repeatedly dumped in the
thrash bin of the migrant Editors. Similar, is the case with our fellow
activists who seem to have been sucked into the addictive pattern of the Sin
City and have permitted others to pull their (activists) strings. They just
forget that more the reckless noises means more the money for someone at the
other end of the chain. After all who are we the non-social entrepreneurs to
spoil the party for Goa's thriving social work industry?

So we can expect it to remain a 'Good Friday' in the Sin City where prophets
will continue to be ostracised or crucified on a pole and the ressurection of
booze, dope and women will be celebrated as the official 'Easter' of Goa until
that day when Goans go to the tomb. It will remain a State where citizen and
activist alike will enjoy the fun and remain happy dumping the blame on someone
else for the mess. Dum Maro Dum!
