Friends !! I share a post on the Amersfoort International Jazz Festival and Goans who are particpating in the festival. RB :
oooooooooooooooooooooooo About the Amersfoort Jazzfestival oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo The Rabobank Amersfoort International Jazz Festival is more than 30 years old and is one of the most prominent outdoor jazzfestival in the Netherlands. In three days time more than 100.000 visitors attend the free festival. There are 7 stages and on friday more that 40 clubs concerts. Amersfoort International Jazz festival hosted international guests like Curtis Fuller (2005), Candy Dulfer (2006), Housten Person (2007), Gino Vannelli (2008), Ronnie Cuber (2009) and Oleta Adams (2010). This year jazzicoon Hans Dulfer is artist in residence. India and the Netherlands have traditionally enjoyed excellent bilateral relations that spans over several centuries, even before the subcontinent was colonized by various European powers. *_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_ ...Konkani Rocks in association with Heritage Jazz presents konkani rocks Europe! ************************************* Taking Konkani on the World Map !! *********************************************** The Second Phase of Konkani Rocks! 0000000000000000000000000000000 From Panjim to Amersfoort is scheduled from the 13th to the 15th of May, 2011. Goa’s state capital, Panjim and the Dutch city, Amersfoort, have a lot in common. Both these cities are top tourist destinations that offer a variety of attractions to domestic and foreign visitors. Panjim and Amersfoort also have a rich history, unique traditions and culture. India’s Home of Jazz, the Gonsalves Mansion is located in the heritage zone, Campal, a suburb of Panjim while Amersfoort hosts the annual, Amersfoort Jazz, an international festival that sees globally renowned jazz artists, budding talent and jazz lovers converge on the Dutch city for three days. This festival sees over 1,00,000 jazz lovers from various parts of the world flock to the ancient Dutch city to view their favorite bands and new talent perform. Various companies avail of the Amersfoort Jazz festival to showcase their products and services to visitors, who are usually in a relaxed mood, thanks to the festive ambience that prevails in the city. The depth of Heritage Jazz’s relations with the Netherlands and its jazz musicians can also be gauged from the fact that Saskia Laroo was the first foreign artist to play traditional Konkani songs on trumpet, at a gala concert held in Goa Velha on December 3, 2009, thus powering a new movement, Konkani Rocks!, aimed at preserving, promoting and cherishing Konkani music. Further, Armando Gonsalves and the Office of the Mayor of Amersfoort are studying the possibilities of designating Panjim and Amersfoort as Twin Jazz Cities, probably the first such concept in the world. This concept will be developed further to include all other major cities that host jazz festivals, including the world’s Jazz Capital, New Orleans, Louisiana, US and others, to form a World Twin Jazz Cities Networks. Heritage Jazz, will now utilize the Amersfoort Jazz festival as a vehicle to showcase the best of Goa’s music at this internationally popular event. Heritage Jazz will also promote Goan heritage and culture, as well as cuisine and tourism to Dutch and foreign visitors to the event and performers as well as various sponsors and supporters of Amersfoort Jazz. Additionally we are going to sign a Cooperation Treaty for an International Jazz Festival Alliance this year at the Amersfoort Jazz Festival. The move is expected to see an exponential increase in the number of top jazz bands wanting to perform in Goa, thus making the state, a major attraction for national and foreign jazz lovers. It would also spur radio and satellite TV stations that specialize in Jazz to arrive in Goa for various jazz related events thus bringing positive publicity of this state as a topmost tourism destination. These are the musicians heading to Amersfoort, ready to take the World by Storm. THE MONSORATE BROTHERS ========================= • Trumpet - Joseph & Bosco • Trombone - Blasco • Piano - Ronnie • Drums - Rex Most Jazz events in India have not been complete without the participation of the Monsorate Brothers. They have lent their musical talent to the Bollywood music fraternity and have collaborated with R.D Burman, Bappi Lahiri, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Illayaraja, A.R Rehman, Adnan Sami and many more and have also toured the world in many live concerts. VEEAM ====== Veeam’s heart has always been singing and performing in front of an audience. Unlike other artists of this age she prefers the English hits of the ‘70s and the ‘80s. She is however equally passionate about performing Konkani songs and believes it keeps her in touch with her roots. O'LUV ===== Olavo also known as O’luv is a name synonymous with Konkani pop music. Olavo stands apart from the other musicians in Goa with his ability to make sweet music from a homemade contraption that consists of a comb and a piece of paper. The sound that emerges bears an uncanny resemblance to that of a saxophone. This is Olavo’s signature move when he is performing and he is a distinct crowd stunner. SIDHANATH BUYAO featuring Yatin Talaulekar (Percussionist) ================================================ Sidhanath’s music is testimony of his inherited musical traits his love and passion for Konkani. Sidhanath’s passion and pedigree are a lethal combination and are instrumental in taking him and Buyao Theatres Goem to exceptional heights. =================================================== THE MONSORATE BROTHERS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAqVixA8Up8&feature=related KONKANI ROCKS EUROPE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzENIl32udk KONKANI ROCKS :Face Book : https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=180399698676269 GLOBAL GOEMKARS !!
