I too applaud Carmen's spirit, tenacity and determination equally as much if not more.

However, changing the corrupt top with honest and trustworthy Goans is certainly not sufficient. What needs to be changed in the System of Governance that is followed by the existing corrupt lot and that which will be followed by the honest and trustworthy lot in the future. The corrupt system in existance which in fact is the Delhi-Nagpur-Baramati (Maharashtras) system of governance will not be able to be touched by your honest and trustworthy Goans and chances are that they may also sucumb to its depravity.

Therefore, the need of the hour is a clean, disciplined and self-sacrifice based system of governance for Goa. Period.
Is such a system possible or available?
This is a million dollar question.

Subject: [Goanet] Is Goa doomed?

..........................
My heart is therefore with Carmen in the hope that people like her can rally enough strength to mobilize people to register to vote and turn up on election day and vote the current scoundrels out of office and ensure that Erstwhile, Honest Trustworthy Goans are elected in their stead. This is the only way Goa can emerge from the abyss. Changing the corrupt top will have a trickle down effect and having honest people at the top, can ensure that those below them can be disciplined or got rid of if non compliant.Barring this, I will have to count myself in Rupert's camp touting the trumpet of doom and watching Goa slowly but surely descend into oblivion.

Carmen, I applaud your spirit and hope your enthusiasm is matched equally by tenacity which will surely translate into victory.

Manuel (Eddie) Tavares.
