The UPA government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been so burdened with a string of successive scams that it has obviously had no time to finalise a new Governor for Goa.
Dr. S.S. Sidhu’s five year term as Governor ended way back on 5th August 2009. He continues to hang on at Goa Raj Bhavan for the last 21 months without being re-sworn in as Governor as was required. Whenever his illegal and authorized extension in Goa ends, Dr. Sidhu should make sure that before he leaves, he apologises to the people of Goa for having deliberately defied the Right to Information Act. Dr. Sidhu, a very distinguished former IAS officer will be unfortunately now remembered for all the wrong reasons. Though the head of the state he has refused to comply with the law enacted for transparency and accountability. The only memento he should carry from Goa is a copy of the Right to Information Act.
