PANAJI: Vasco girl Susanna Thomas is top contender for a medical seat in Goa after she became the all-time top scorer at the Goa Common Entrance Test results announced on Monday.
Scoring 217 out of 225 in physics, chemistry and biology, Susanna beat the previous top PCB score of 210 at GCET. The student of Vasco's Navy Children's School is this year's highest GCET scorer in physics with 72 marks and in biology with 73 marks.
Caranzalem-lad Saurabh Shenvi Usgaonkar is top contender for an engineering seat in Goa with the highest physics and mathematics score of 140 at GCET. Susanna also topped the physics-chemistry group with a score of 144 which makes her the top candidate for a pharmacy seat in the state. She is also second in line after Saurabh for an engineering seat.
The topper has a noble ambition. "I want to be a missionary doctor and serve in rural areas. My aunt and uncle are doing this in Tamil Nadu and I want to follow them," she said.
Susanna said her first preference was securing a seat at Goa Medical College. "I thank Lord Jesus for my success and all my teachers at school and at the coaching centre. I want to especially thank my grandmother Lilly Verghese." Her parents Thomas Verghese and Shibi Varghese are employed at Goa Shipyard.
