'Career' princeling Rane .... signed on early to the movement, and co-authored the Daya Bandodkar manifest, so to speak. This inspite of the very public anti caste-Hindu stance of the Bandodkar clan.
COMMENT: As far as I know, the 'devotees' of Bandodkar were mainly anti-Saraswat Brahmins. The Ranes are not Saraswat Brahmins. WRT the Ranes there is an illuminative TRS article which might illustrate the convenient bedfellow principle that 'shrewd' folks all over the world are known to use. In fact, many wealthy families (in business) are known to have (convenient) intra-family splits with one brother supporting political Party A and another supporting political Party B....and laughing their way to the Bank. This convenient bedfellow principle is one which has eluded (mercifully, I believe) a sizable percentage of educated and genteel Goan Catholics. They have suffered financially as a result and have sometimes drifted into the "communal" fold which they (the educated and genteel Goans) believed, would save them from the not-so-educated and definitely not genteel Catholic Goans who were (and now are) 'representing' the Catholic Goan community. Somebody forgot to remember the existence of the 'Strange or Convenient Bedfellows' principle. Anyway ....in conclusion (from me) wrt this topic, here is the link http://www.colaco.net/1/TRSfolkloreRaneRajput.htm jc
