Goan Overseas Toronto Says Farewell to Outgoing President of Twelve Years and Welcomes New President

The Goan Overseas Association, Toronto, held their Annual General Meeting on May 1, 2011 and their Anniversary Dance on May 14, 2011 and is pleased to announce the newly-elected officers and members of the Executive Committee 2011/2012.

Elected to President was Glynis Viegas who previously held the position of Vice President, Administration. Bosco Moniz was elected as Vice President, Administration and Sasha-Rae Texeira was elected as Vice President, Sports. Darrel Carvalho was re-elected as Vice President, Building and re-elected as General Secretary was Linda D’Sa. Elected to the Treasurer position was Edgar Faleiro.

Outgoing President Oscar Furtado [picture on the left] was presented with an original badge of the Goan Overseas Association, Toronto by Alcino Rodrigues [Chair, Board of Trustees]. Oscar Furtado, who has tirelessly given of his time and talent to keep this association alive exemplifies the meaning of being passionate about community and association, by giving not just twelve years as president but years before in other capacities which could total to just under two decades. He will be missed but now takes a break to take time for himself and to attend to personal matters.

We wish Oscar all the very best.
