This is another example of misreporting of facts by a newspaper. This is not a result of a major study. A bureaucratic advisory panel of scientists at WHO has decided to classify excessive cell phone use under Category 2B as "possibly carcinogenic", along with pickled vegetables and coffee. They avoided classifying it under the higher Category 1 (definitely carcinogenic) and Category 2A (probably carcinogenic) because there is no evidence for it being carcinogenic at normal use doses either in humans or animals.
