Dear Mr. Kamat,

Firstly let me thank you and your Cabinet of Ministers for giving me, as a
parent, the right to choose in what medium my child is to be educated. That was
a bold decision and I hope you you will implement it efficiently.

On the 6th of June schools re-open. Both my young sons have to travel a long
distance to get to school. The Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch has called for a
Goa Bandh on the 6th of June. They have a legitimate right to air their
grievances and protest peacefully. Unfortunately recent incidents in Goa have
shown us that once a mob forms the leaders cannot control their actions. The
police also have continually shown their inability to anticipate, or control,
crowd trouble.

As a mother I fear that the bandh on 6th June could turn violent and my
children could get hurt.

Your term as Chief Minister has been characterised by you ignoring festering
problems and reacting only after they have reached a boiling point and the
damage has already been done. For a change I hope you will be proactive and
take adequate precautions to see that the bandh on the 6th is voluntary and not
violent. You gave me the choice to decide in what language my children will
study. Now give me the choice to get them to school without being intimidated
by the threat of violence.

Please give all us concerned parents a confident assurance that we can send our
children to a school on the 6th without any fear.

With regards

Beatrice Pinto
