Folks,
The Cultural programme by The Goan Diaspora Cultural Group - EKVAT at the KA in
Panjim this evening was very entertaining in that it was all about Goan folk
songs and dances - mando, dheknis, dulpods, etc. The dances were well
choreographed to the traditional Goan music played on guitar, violins, flute
and a ghumot. Beautiful to the ear and very entertaining.
I was a late entry, but the organizers graciously gave me a pass.
It was announced that the elders of group visited Goa earlier, but it was the
first time for the youngsters - the dancers. They carry the Goan culture along
with the elders very ably although they are born and brought up in Portugal.
While in the hall, I was just wondering if they had any problem presenting Goan
culture so beautifully and artistically when their MoI in Portugal would be
Portuguese???
Long live communal and linguistic harmony in Goa.
Cheers
