Folks, The Cultural programme by The Goan Diaspora Cultural Group - EKVAT at the KA in Panjim this evening was very entertaining in that it was all about Goan folk songs and dances - mando, dheknis, dulpods, etc. The dances were well choreographed to the traditional Goan music played on guitar, violins, flute and a ghumot. Beautiful to the ear and very entertaining. I was a late entry, but the organizers graciously gave me a pass. It was announced that the elders of group visited Goa earlier, but it was the first time for the youngsters - the dancers. They carry the Goan culture along with the elders very ably although they are born and brought up in Portugal. While in the hall, I was just wondering if they had any problem presenting Goan culture so beautifully and artistically when their MoI in Portugal would be Portuguese???
