Hotel structure razed at Colva TEAM HERALD Hotel structure razed at Colva TEAM HERALD [email protected] Margao: Axe fell on an eight-room hotel structure at Colva village on Tuesday following high court orders to raze down the structure which had come up in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) violations. The South demolition squad carried out the operation to demolish the huge structure this morning. The squad partly completed the exercise and will resume the operations to raze down the concrete pillars at a later stage. Former Colva Sarpanch, Snowcon Gonsalves, however, cried foul over the demolition operation. He contended that the high court had issued clear directives to first identify and demarcate the structure to be demolished before initiating action. “Neither the local Panchayat body nor the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority identified the structure nor conducted the demarcation”, Gonsalves said, while disclosing plans to file a contempt petition and sue the authorities for damages. He told newsmen that the respondents have failed to identify and demarcate the structure to be demolished by the authorities. “I have faith in the judiciary and I will get justice”, he said, while stating that that he was singled out vis-à-vis the CRZ violation on account of local politics. He claimed the structures that were built in the locality after his construction have been left untouched.
