I once attended a residential seminar conducted by the All Goa Mathematics Teachers Association at Ramnathi.
The conditions given by the Ramnathi Temple authorities for the use of the rooms and hall were fairly clear: No non-veg food and the veg food served had to contain no plant which was grown underground e.g. potatoes, radishes, onions, garlic, etc. beside other conditions. Again they were kind enough to supply the food and believe me or not it was wholesome, tasty and enjoyable. In North India, my friends used to be amazed to learn that vegetarians in Goa eat fish and mutton and eggs, whereas in the North Indian tradition, vegetarian means vegetables only. *It seems some vegetarians are more vegetarian than others!* -- Tony de Sa. tonydesa at gmail dot com
