After registering the police-drug dealer nexus and Dudu cases, the central
bureau of investigation (CBI) SP S S Gavali said that they will thoroughly
investigate all the aspects of the case in the state.
"We have formed three teams to investigate the cases. We will investigate into
the organized drug racket operating in the state," said Gavali.
On Wednesday, CBI registered two out of the three cases, the
police-politician-drug dealer nexus case and Dudu case on directions of the
high court of Bombay at Goa.
Speaking to reporters at the CBI office, Gavali said that they have constituted
three teams which would be led by inspectors Ashok Yadav, A K Dabas and Joy
Damble. "We will also take assistance from Goa government and Goa police to
investigate these cases," said Gavali.
Gavali also said that they will pursue the extradition of Israeli drug peddler
Yaniv Benaim alias Atala from Peru. Crime branch had arrested Atala and he was
released on conditional bail.
He went missing while on bail and was later arrested in Peru.
"CBI will pursue the extradition of Atala in the case once we receive the case
papers from crime branch," said Gavali.
When asked about the arrest of eight police personnel in the Atala case,
including police inspector (PI) Ashish Shirodkar, Gavali said, ''We will decide
once we examine the case papers.''
Eight police personnel were arrested by crime branch in the
police-politician-drug dealer nexus case for their alleged involvement with
Atala.
He also said that they will try to contact the main witness in Atala case
LuckyFarmhouse, who is a Swedish model and Atala's girlfriend.
"We will try to reach her any where at the appropriate stage, whether she is in
Sweden or any other country," said Gavali.
Asked whether Roy Naik will be investigated in these cases, investigation
officer Ashok Yadav's reply was prompt, "We are open to any investigations but
we will not name any particular person and we will investigate into the whole
case."
Whether they will question former anti-narcotics cell SP Venu Bansal in the
Dudu case, Gavali said that he could not jump to any conclusions till papers
are examined. Bansal's name figured in the Gudlar case.
