dear Aires, This is one 'Fight' of yours that has much merit. I appreciate your relentless pursuit of the same. Will it come to a logical Conclusion? What do you think are the odds? Or is it possible at all, to throw this guy out of office! You could organise a TOTAL BANDH you know! You think you can organise one? Take help from MGP, BJP, Sena etc. These groups claim to be Good at it. Nascy Caldeira
From: Aires Rodrigues [email protected] Subject: [Goanet] FROM FEB 2005 TO MAY 2011 GOA'S ADVOCATE GENERAL PAID RS 5, 13, 11, 750 The Goa Government has paid its Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak Rs 5 crores 13 lakhs 11,750 for the period from 14th Feb 2005 to May 2011. The Law department has informed under the Right to Information Act that the amount paid to Advocate General Subodh Kantak is by way of his professional fees, retainership and other allowances. The amount excludes the period form 5th March 2005 to 15th June 2005 when Goa was under President’s rule and Senior Counsel Mario Bruto da Costa was appointed the Advocate General. The highest amount paid to Advocate General Subodh Kantak was for March 2007 when Mr. Subodh Kantak got a whopping 19 Lakhs 60 thousand by way of professional fees. Mr. Subodh Kantak who is not even a Senior Counsel is India’s highest paid Advocate General. The Advocate Generals of Maharastra, Karnataka and Gujarat on the average are never paid more that Rs 50,000 a month. Advocate Generals in other States only appear in constitutional and important matters, but Mr. Subodh Kantak is appearing in all sorts of matters just because he is paid Rs 8000/- every time he stands up in the High Court. Advocate General Subodh Kantak who was earlier being paid on an average over Rs 10 lakhs a month is now getting upto Rs. 5 lakhs a month.but the same needs to be further lowered as in other States. It is very evident that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat is not serious on his assurance that the Goa AG’s fees would be brought down on par with the neighboring states. It is an irony that Goa’s Advocate General Subodh Kantak is being paid more then the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and even the President of India.
