-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM: A 38 year old woman from Van Maulinguem today died due to severe burn injury even as her brother has complained with the Bicholim police of dowry death.
According to the available information one Pramila Prakash Gawas (38) from Van Bicholim was today brought to PHC Bicholim after she suffered grievous burn injury. As her condition worsened she was shifted to GMC where she breathed her last. In the evening Pramila's brother, Atmaram Gaonkar complained with the Bicholim police that her sister was burnt by her family members and the death was due to dowry. As per the complaint Pramila got married on June 2006 and since then her husband was harassing her for dowry. In 2008 Pramila had also filed a complaint against her husband in this regard with the Bicholim police. According to their complaint Pramila was burnt to death by her family. Meanwhile, the SDM, Narayan Gad conducted the inquest and postmortom will be held tomorrow.
