PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said that giving elementary
education in English is like 'replacing mother's milk with chicken soup and
fish.'

Tarun Vijay, veteran journalist and party's Rajya Sabha member, speaking to
reporters said that forcing English language on children at elementary level
would be atrocious decision.

"It's like replacing mother's milk with chicken soup and fish. The dishes might
look good but is it healthy? Is it advisable?" he questioned.

Vijay stated that "Congress decision on MoI is a direct attack on the culture,
tradition and status of Goans. It's a basic assault on characteristics and
pride of Goans."

Vijay alleged that Congress' mentality of being slave to foreigners, which
begins from the top, reflects in Kamat government's decision to recognise
English as medium of instruction (MOI).

He said that the current mentality that has surfaced in Goa is because of the
presence of foreign origin genes in the Congress party right from its top.

The leader was indirectly referring to party president Sonia Gandhi who has
Italian origin.

"Slavery to foreigners is in their culture and colonial mindset is in their
genes," Vijay said adding that BJP condemns Congress government's act of
unleashing English on young minds and robbing their mother tongue from them.

"It's an assault on basic culture and pride of people from Gomantak," Vijay
opined.

Speaking about the recent events in Bangladesh, Vijay said that Islamism of the
neighbouring country is a matter of serious concern. He claimed that the events
will have serious repercussion on India as the infiltration from Bangladesh
will increase.
