FN, There was no randomness in commenting on the Book Club talk. You and Joel put it on Goanet, asked for our views and we obliged. Did you want only responses which would meet your approval and then we could be called real Goans?
If GM talked about his famous father how come you didn't get that portion on YouTube. Since you had 9 minutes on YouTube why did you get the most boring part in it and left out what you tell us were more interesting bytes? Another netter talking about this, in an email to me, mentioned that at such talks, the audience needs to be encouraged and primed to ask the right questions and get to the root of a few controversies in order to get the speaker to be at his or her best. This was not done and the audience lapsed into docility. And then you ask why I brought these questions up from half a world away. And yes I read his articles and books while you probably were still in Brazil! Regards, Roland. Guys, light a candle instead of cursing and randomly critiquing others! We had a very nice time with George Menezes doing his reading. But then, of course, we wouldn't be Goans if we didn't get responses of this kind! FN PS: Incidentally George Menezes was a Squadron Leader in the IAF, where he retired early from. "Really getting old" is nothing to be embarassed about; we appreciate his willingness to take part in public functions as an octogenarian. George did speak at length about his illustrious dad, the late Armand Menezes. As for the other topics suggested, pity you were not there to request it. Guess it's easy to sit half a world away and say, "George should have spoken about xxx". Wonder if you have read his work -- Pardon your Middle is Showing, One Sip at a Time and Sugar and Spice.
