If one takes Fred's view regarding to do away with principles but only see the results, then he should be in another profession. If politicians in Goa are giving scant respect to principles and rules of the land but delivering administration, which could be good and bad, then in Fred's view Goans should not question them. If Goan cops use tactics, including torture, to get confession from an accused then it is alright with Fred even though such methods go against the laws dealing with accused and prisoners. He quotes Mao but I believe Fred fails to understand that Mao was a dictator and if he said "black" is "white" he expected people to believe him and not question him. Check the human rights record in China under Mao. Didn't Mao say "change must come thru the barrel of a gun." Gandhi said the means must justify the end. Take your pick Fred. On a discussion list, there should be "squabbling". It cannot be a one-track forum. Views must be expressed and shared and there must be debate in an orderly way, without name-calling or use of abusive language. It seems to me that Fred likes to take the middle-of-the-road way. Even when he wants to challenge another person's view he often asks rhetorical questions. It takes guts to call a spade a spade. One does get dirty when wadding in murky waters. In the GOA New Jersey election, some good points have emerged. There always been and will always be divisions in Goan associations. It is unavoidable. Total consensus is hard to achieve. Are they no divisions among one own family members? See what happened to the newly-formed GoaNetters Association of Toronto and see what has happened to some newly-fromed NGOs in Goa. You don't have to be a cat to smell the rats in associations. If you care to see and notice, you will know about the rats.
