The Police in Goa seem to be afflicted by the "OSTRICH SYNDROME". A number of
Director General's of Police,no less, have been parroting that Goa is not a
TRANSIT or SUPPLY point for the narcotic & psychotropic substance trade. Their
assertions dont seem to hold water or pass muster amongst knowledgeable sources
who point out that consistent hauls of narcotic and psychotropic drugs in
States neighbouring Goa clearly establish a Goa connection. Some months back
there were persons arrested in Belgaum in Karnataka. Amongst those arrested was
a POLICE CONSTABLE  serving in the GOA POLICE!!.

Another arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Central Government in
neighbouring Maharashtra revealed foreign National based in Goa connection to
the dangerous drug trade. The Narcotics Control Bureau subsequently were able
to arrest the foreign National in Goa.

Today comes the report that a person was arrested in Bangalore who on
interrogation revealed connections to Goa. The CNN-IBN report causes disquiet
as it reveals that Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and Methylene Dioxy
Amphetamine (MDA) were procured from Netherlands through a person in Goa. These
facts beg the question. IS NOT GOA A TRANSIT/ SUPPLY POINT FOR DRUGS? Or are
you going to give a spin Mr. DGP and say that " One crow does not a summer
make"?

The Goa Police must wake up and get its act together, lest they become the butt
of more opprobrium and ridicule by the citizenry resident in Goa, and the
people of India and the World at large. The credentials of Goa as a safe
tourist destination is also at stake. Remember Tourism is amongst the top two
revenue earners for Goa.

It is rumoured that the current DGP of Goa is quite often missing on duty due
to his being in the clutches of a Guru who insists that he do "DHYAN"( loosely
described as meditation) It is reported that he was found missing from duty
during the time of the recent Balli riots. It is also reported that the next in
Command Ms. Sundari Nanda IPS was found to be unequal to the task and merely
"wrung" her hands.

Come on MR. DGP get out your trance. The BADGES OF RANK WORN BY YOU HAVE A STAFF
AS AN INSIGNIA OF YOUR POLICE OFFICE. DO WE NEED TO EDUCATE YOU THAT THE
INSIGNIA OF STAFF IN YOUR BADGES OF RANK STANDS FOR THE COERCIVE POWER OF OUR
COUNTRY IN THE DEFENCE OF ITS CITIZENS !!!. Learn from the example of the Delhi
Police Commissioner who personally led his men -- complete with his Staff and
Riot gear against the unruly citizens led by another Baba in Delhi.

Dear DGP,you are heir to a glorious tradition of the INDIAN POLICE SERVICE in
the likes of Officers like Mr. John Lobo, Mr. Julio Rebeiro,Mr. Ronald
Mendonca, Mr. KPS Gill, Mr. Arvind Inamdar, and a pantheon of other competent
Police Officers DONT DISGRACE YOURSELF. DONT LET DOWN THE CITIZENRY. DONT LET
DOWN THE COUNTRY.

THE CENTRAL GOVT. MUST  ALSO TAKE HEED OF THE SITUATION AND CRACK THE WHIP SUCH
AS TO GET RESULTS OR POST A MORE BOLD, DETERMINED AND SUAVE OFFICER TO REPLACE
THE TIMOUROUS DGP.

Long Live the Republic of India, that is Bharat!
