Date : Tuesday, 19th July 2011 Time : 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm Venue : Goa State Museum Auditorium, Patto, Panaji, Goa Two years ago Nirmala Institute of Education supported by the Digital Bridge Foundation and Gnowledge Lab, HBCSE TIFR. began a pioneering effort to bring the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) - Sugar Learning Platform programme to Goa. With 100 XOs (laptops) donated by Prof. Nicholas Negroponte of the MIT Media Lab through the Digital Bridge Foundation, we charted a new path in primary education in the State. In the summer of 2011 Monsoon Grey, the local anchor for the project, conducted a Digital Story Telling Workshop for 25 children at the school in Merces, working with Sugar on their XO laptops. We will be screening a film on the Digital Story Telling workshop and presenting the children’s creative efforts and digital stories. We are only just beginning to see the fruits of this combined effort and are inviting you to share with us our experience. In the context of the many changes that are taking place in the primary school education in Goa, such as the introduction of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system (CCE), this project takes on greater relevance.
