About seven shops have been simultaneously broken open at Chinchinim, on a day lashed with heavy rains and nothing unusual was noticed till the next morning, As usual no report has been filed with local police as by law required Hence the police will not proceed with the panchnama It appears that the loss of goods and hard cash is substantial, but people are wary of police formalities and constant after inquires .It suits them well as they can proudly present a trouble free out post, Two years earlier the Chinchinim Citizen Executive Committee took a delegation to the police for Panchnama on similar incidents. After the panchana and immediately there after the police nabbed the gang of thieves ,though no stolen property was recovered from their possession Coming on its heel is a strong rumour that an uninhabited house ever since its construction, on the NH17 at Dandeavado CHINCHINIM is belonging to one person from Velim Some unidentified persons replaced the lock on the main door to the shock of the owner on a casual visit. It is believed that on complaint to the police the lock was broken opened. The lock on the cupboard inside was similarly replaced There is no news of the incidents that a stolen gold treasure was found inside the cupboard and no police release of the news It was an ideal spot to stash away stolen property safely for time being till it could be safely disposed The novel idea of safe keeping has baffled the residents. The arrangement by Chinchinim Citizen committee to pay water bills at Bank of Maharastra was observed in breach of the accepted terms. Now the Regional office of the Bank has directed that water bills be accepted on all working days, including Saturdays, without requiring to open an S.B.Account It is further stated to display the notice and report to the Head office by email of the action taken Even seven days after the receipt of the letter,,the compliance is still promised by the incumbent Manager. who is wary of the strictures against the clerk/cashier from the Regional Office. It may be said that a thousand water users in the locality, used to take advantage of this facility, when suddenly the new illegal dispensation was assumed much to the annoyance of the locals Announcements are made in the chapels and churches about this directions. The aggrieved people then made a representation about its promise to accept the bills. During the time of ATM.removal the issue was not raised on request, though it was very much a part of agitation There are complaints also of the Banks demanding 20% bribes for releasing loans with KVIC subsidy for small and cottage industries. The process is complicated ,delayed rejected, after tedious completion of formalities if illegal gratification is not paid. There is a feeling that the Higher up in the Managemet are indirect parties to this loot and corruption, as they knowingly appear to turn a blind eye The patience of the residents may not be taken for granted for long. They are bound to errupt as discontent is brewing up. Nelson lopes Chinchinim 9850926276
