On Fri, 22 Jul 2011 04:59:33 -0700, Arvind P. Bhatikar -- Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch---21/07/2011-----Press Release:- <<<Brar and Reddy should know that the Portuguese Colonialists, unlike the British, ruled with the Sword in one hand and Cross in the other. The Colonialists, not only indulged in mass conversion of the Hindu population to Christianity but also tried to annihilate the Konkani language and the Hindu culture of Goa. Goa is still suffering from the cultural after-effects of the Portuguese rule, and the recent demand for grants-in-aid for English from a section of the minority community incited by the Church, and the equally shocking demand not to make Hindi compulsory for school students is only a manifestation of this cultural alienation, said Smt. Kakodkar.>>> COMMENT : The communal venom spitting here, because they are unable to bite; like ‘A drowning person clinging to a straw’. If the Portuguese “ruled with the Sword in one hand and Cross in the other” and “indulged in mass conversion of Hindu population to Christianity”; then it should have been the Christians who should have been protesting and not the Hindus. But the Christians are happy with what they are, and these communalists are only fomenting communal feelings in the illiterates and the youth. And what do Portuguese rule have to do with the English language? They never even promoted the language; whereas the British did in India. The Portuguese did not massacre people like in Jallianwalla Bagh, Amritsar; where thousands of Hindus, Muslim and Sikhs were opened fire on and killed. If Arvind Bhatikar and Shashikala want to intergrate with the communalists, they are free to go and join Thakerays; they are still delusioned that Goa will integrate with Maharashtra.
