[Goanet] Ghar or Sap: (Gliding, flying lizard - lacerda ocelata) I drank it’s blood with ‘soro’ and somehow also remember eating it’s flesh raw. It has a small portion of meat that can be eaten just like that (raw or uncooked)
Saap is caught and killed for its blood, meat and skin. Looks like they are available plenty around Ponda. As this is the time (just in time for ‘Chovot’ ) Gomotts are available for sale in large quantities. When kids, we were told thieves used the ‘saap’ to climb on to tall buildings by clinging on to the ‘Saap’ tail. Another thing we knew of ‘saap’ was that when it grasp your hand/finger etc in it’s mouth it does not know how to open its or release you (gans marlier soddunk kovona) a picture - a large one found in goa http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauk8/296193569/ In villages, they are usually found in old abandoned houses and wells. I think it lays eggs like any other lizard/reptiles [email protected] for Goa & NRI related info... http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/ For Goan Video Clips http://youtube.com/joeukgoa In Goa, Dial 1 0 8 For Hospital, Police, Fire etc
