Dear Eugene

Global Goan Convention 2011, London – coverage - journalism
Reply to your message 6, vol 6 – Issue 705

Your quote “I wish some professional journalists had covered this convention. No
journalist goes to a convention with a mission to do a "hatchet job". It is
another thing if readers agree with what he/she writes.”

I entirely agree with your thoughts as I have seen reports of 7,000 people but
not having attended it myself, when I see the photographs uploaded by JoeGoaUK
on
Flicker it looks more like 7,000 blades of grass. I am going for an eye test
next week and will get back to you on this. Also on the programme was an item
of religious
activity, however, I haven’t seen any news of this.

Our people in our church going community have gone a long way from just
cleaning church benches and flower arranging. We do have a Goan chaplain in the
United
Kingdom, we also have a mission from the Pilar Fathers with branches in France
and Germany. There may be others in Europe. Religion is an integral part of our
culture, did modern day festival organisers leave them out? Perhaps the public
relations officer for the festival may wish to comment.
