PRE PRIMARY SCHOOL . The working parents find it a convenient bank to deposit the toddlers., as they also do not live in joint families, wanting independence and freedom. Non working parents are mere imitators They are seized early of the competitive world ahead The child by nature had to sleep long ,enjoy closeness to the mother, and spent quality time in play activities Getting up early the child is not prepared to be fed properly. The toilets habits are also not developed The child is embarrassed with no attendants too.. The child is regimented in school. The environment in many schools is most unsuitable, with respect to furniture, light , ventilation, toilets, and open spaces and play material The costly material, uniforms ,are with an eye on profitability under the garb of identity. The fees under a variety of heads are mind boggling The teachers are not trained in pedagogy, psychology, mental health, and evaluated for their love of children. They are poorly paid and not according to scales recommended. The fee component is not related to the emoluments to the staff .Many a times they are made to sign the wrong amounts. No child can be admitted in first standard ,or refused admission before completing 6 years of age .Schools are not programmed to admit child without pre Primary schooling and this forces the parents to admit in such early schools Age restrictions have fuelled the demand for another class. There is no control on content. The children develop aversion to school life and the neuro muscular coordination too early is a casualty. The graded timing starting from 9 and gradually increasing after 1 2, 3, is not acceptable to working parent The weekly holiday on Saturday ,rather than in the middle of the week is also objected The parents have not agreed to no examination and writing in the first year . They want record of all the examination in special folders , details of syllabus month wise, dates of exams indicating the portion for every test, otherwise one looses the loyalty of parents to the institution These are gimmicks resorted to by schools to attract strength in numbers .The programme is dictated by the schools rather then by the Education Dept, who fail miserably to exercise their right with the interest of child needs All pre primary schools must be part of the normal schools and no one else should be allowed to enter. The rules regarding fees, pay, qualification, environment, facilities, open spaces and the content, timing ,must strictly and uniformly enforced by the same inspecting staff. The capitalization of age restriction and need of parents must not override the nature of the child, Many of us started schools at the age of 7 and looking back have not lost anything. If the damage could be effectively measured on the child Psyche, then the effects would have been dramatic and alarming to take note of
