Gabe Menezes posted a Hindu newspaper article which stated the following:
Mr. (Aires) Rodrigues and 14 other Ribandar residents are being prosecuted for allegedly trespassing into the Ribandar Church corridor on August 16, 2004 and disturbing a meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council. Mr. Rodrigues was then leading an agitation DEMANDING ACTION against Fr. Newton Rodrigues for having allegedly molested a 13-year- old girl from Ribandar. COMMENT: After viewing the recent burning of London, I am now "convinced" that rioting and other forms of disorder, methods preferred by some among us, are the 'best methods to achieve justice'. And, just as one Londener had postulated, the Police did a marvellous job on night 1 of the riot. I wonder, however: (a) If the date of the alleged incident was Dec 24, 2003 ...... why this alleged trespass 8 months later in August 2004? Did the BUS take that long to reach? (b) Is there no Court system in Goa? (c) From Whom/What entity is it that this ACTION was being DEMANDED? (d) Is the young lady, whose identity was caused to be revealed, happy now at age nearly 21? Is she more likely to be tagged for life because of the alleged incident or because of her public identification? jc
