Dear Nelson,
While I agree one hundred per cent that any citizen of India is free to
protest, go on hunger fast or kill himself or whatever without harming any
other citizen, that included the family members, I have always been against
a DRACONIAN law which gives power to one or a few persons to do what they
want with the rest. I have also been on the opinion that the Anna Hazare
sponsored Civil Society Lokpal Bill was a HITLERIAN legislation which cannot
be accomodated withing the Constitution of India. The BJP, atlast, has come
out with this opinion and is now supporting Anna Hazare's right to protest
ONLY.
Here is a different view on the Lokpal Bill and how it should be with full
care taken that no one person or a coterie of a few become HITLERS that can
gas the nation.
There is no doubt that India requires a STRONG Lokpal Bill. This was the
need of the HOUR in 1947 itself if our Pundits had to listen to what Sir
Winston Churchill had to say on giving Independence to India (with all his
faults). But 60 years later we cannot afford to have a HITLER as a Lokpal.
India will never accept this, Hazare or No Hazare.
