Total population of Goans in Canada is slightly less than 40,000, of whom 90% are established in Toronto and the other 10% being mainly in Montreal and Vancouver although there are scatterings in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Halifax. Toronto Goan population origins comprise as follows: 20 % East Africa connection 10 % Pakistan connection 3 % European (Portugal and African colonies) connection 67 % India including via Persian Gulf connection Comment: Furthermore, the second generation has totally adapted to the Canadian culture and do not see any connection with India except interaction with fellow Canadians of Indian origin. Some can also speak the English in native Indian accent as well as Canadian as per situation requires. MD
